Pulse Check of the Aged Care Sector: The Real Impact of Reforms
27 October 2025The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) is inviting aged care workers to take part in a national ‘pulse check’ of aged care sector. The survey seeks to understand the impact of recent and ongoing reforms from the perspective of those working within the aged care sector.
Before participating in the survey, please take a moment to read the participant information sheet below to understand what your participation involves.
To access the survey please follow this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7253VQP or scan the QR code below. The survey is open until the 24th of November and is expected to take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete.

What is the purpose of the survey?
This survey aims to assess how the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety are being implemented and experienced by aged care workers. It seeks to understand the impact of recent reforms on key areas including staffing levels, skill mix, funding, consumer safety, worker safety, and clinical safety.
What does my participation involve?
If you decide to take part, you will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey. To be eligible, you must be aged 18 years or older and work in the aged care sector. The survey is open to both ANMF members and non-members. We encourage you to share the survey link with your colleagues in aged care.
The survey includes a combination of demographic, multiple-choice responses, and open-ended questions. It covers topics such as staffing (ratios), skill mix, funding, consumer safety, worker safety, and clinical safety. The survey is open until the 24th of November and is expected to take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete.
Do I have to take part?
Taking part is entirely voluntary and all questionnaire data will be recorded anonymously. By submitting the survey, you are providing consent to participate. You may withdraw at any time before submission, and incomplete surveys will be deleted after the survey closes. Please note that once you submit your survey, we will be unable to remove your responses as it will be impossible to identify your individual data. The decision to participate or to withdraw from the survey will have no bearing on your position as an ANMF member.
What are the risks of taking part?
It is not anticipated that there are any risks associated with participating in this study beyond those encountered in everyday life. If any themes present in this questionnaire impact you or bring up any distressing memories, we urge you to please contact the Nurse Midwife Health Program on 1800 001 060 (or if you are in Victoria, the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria on 03 9415 7551) for free, confidential, peer support counselling. Alternatively, please contact Lifeline (13 11 14) or Beyond Blue (1800 512 348) for 24-hour support. Please reach out to your local ANMF state/territory branch if you wish to discuss any concerns raised by the survey. Should you feel uncomfortable providing any information you are welcome to skip the question or close the survey.
What will happen to the information I provide?
All questionnaire data will be recorded anonymously. Responses will be carefully screened and any potentially identifying information will be removed or adjusted. All records containing personal information will remain confidential and no information which could lead to the identification of any individual will be released, unless as required by law. All data will be stored on the secure ANMF servers, with restricted access.
